AROMATHERAPY

Caroline started her studies in Complementary Therapies with Rosemary Clarke in Bournemouth in 1994 where she attained her first ITEC Diploma in Anatomy, Physiology & Body Massage.

After completion of this Certificate Caroline then studied for her ITEC Diploma in Aromatherapy in 1995 and subsequently her ITEC Diploma in Reflexology in 1996.

Caroline has been in full-time practice as a Natural Health Therapist since 1995.

Caroline sources organic and/or good quality Aromatherapy essential oils and carrier oils whenever possible.

What is Aromatherapy?

Aromatherapy is a modern name for the ancient knowledge of healing using pure, natural aromatic oils, combined with the art of massage, going back to Ancient Egypt and Greece.

These natural  aromatic essential oils are extracted from various plants, herbs, flowers, fruits, twigs, roots and resins of some trees.  They are a mixture of organic components and each oil has its own individual fragrance.  Caroline sources good quality essential oils which are preferably organically grown without the use of pesticides.

Essential oils are blended with a carrier oil(s) such as an organic grapeseed, flaxseed or sweet almond oil and are applied to the skin via massage.  When the massage is over it is best not to shower or bathe for 6-8 hours after a treatment as it takes a few hours for the oils' aroma to wear off.

What does an Aromatherapy treatment entail?

A consultation is always undertaken at the first treatment to record the client's health, diet and lifestyle and to establish any contra-indications to treatment.  The initial consultation lasts for around 15-30 minutes and a small additional fee is payable only at the first session.

If you have a serious medical condition or are receiving medical treatment, you should consult your GP before commencing treatment.  Aromatherapy massage should not be used as an alternative to seeing your GP.  It is a complementary therapy and can be used alongside other medical treatments.

After each consultation Caroline prepares a blend of around 3-6 essential oils in a warm carrier oil which is then massaged into the skin.  The client will be covered in clean towels and a blanket for additional warmth at all times.  A full body treatment will last for about 60 minutes with shorter sessions lasting for around 30 minutes depending upon your requirements.

Every effort will be made to make the client feel comfortable and secure in pleasant surroundings and it should be a relaxing and enjoyable experience.  Soothing background music is played to encourage deep relaxation and to heighten feelings of tranquility and well-being.

At subsequent treatments there will be a shorter questionnaire just to see how you have been since the last treatment.

Caroline also has relevant Public Liability and  Malpractice Insurance cover with Alan Boswell Insurance Brokers Ltd in Norfolk which is renewed annually in June each year through her membership of the Association of Reflexologists.

We do not do home visits for Aromatherapy massage unless you have your own suitable couch at your home  for our use.    We only treat ladies for this treatment though men are welcome if they are recommended by their GP/Consultant or by one of our existing clients.

Aromatherapy Facials

Caroline also offers Aromatherapy Facials using the most expensive pure essential oils such as rose, neroli (orange blossom), jasmine, frankincense, sandalwood, etc which she blends in sweet almond oil or other carrier oil to suit the client.  Each blend will be prepared on the day and personalised to each individual.  Caroline sources and uses pure, natural and organic products whenever possible.

You can choose from an Express Facial Massage (£19) which entails a cleanse, tone and massage lasting for around 20 minutes, or a Full Facial Massage (£27.50) which includes a light facial scrub and natural face mask in addition to the above and lasts for about 50 minutes.
